Ryan Murgatroyd hails from South Africa and is definitely a DJ/Producer to look out for in 2007. He has been getting loads of airplay from Radio 1 and he has already been picked up by Toolroom records. Tasha Baxter provides the sweet vocal for Funk Country.
Mr. Murgatroyd also runs a music production school in South Africa, The Soul Candi Institute of Music, where he writes and teaches state of the art production courses.
This remix is yet another bangin' one from Micky Slim. It's a wonderful follow up to his House of Pain remix that was out earlier this year. As usual this remix has a great vocal and insane bass (shocker!). I am really looking forward to seeing what else Micky has in store for our ears in 2007!

Here is an exclusive long mix from my bud ATOM. He runs the Kusic label, which I am on (natch!), and he is a living Tech House God!! Ok, that last bit may be an overstatement but I don't care (He kicks serious ass live, really!). He does sweet originals and amazing remixes (of all kinds of tunes). If you want techy blips, bleeps, wicked bass lines and thumping kicks he is your go-to guy! He has a normal club gig at G/R/A/N/D in Stamford, Connecticut and has been a guest DJ (with me, last February) at MASH AVE in Boston several times. ATOM also spins out with his partner in crime DJ Noelle under the moniker of Jacques Royale. He is truly one of the nicest guys you will ever meet (he also has the world sweetest mixer!) and is loads of fun to DJ with.
When he gets behind the decks...you best get your ass to the dance floor!

Trentemoller can't seem to do anything wrong. He recently released 'The Last Resort', a beautiful and lush album that even after repeated spins never seems to get old. He has also been doing the rounds lately with his remixes, producing one sweet remix after the other. Here NuDisco get to remix him and they sure grab your attention with this rework. This remix would fit into almost any kind of set you want to throw down (I personally would use it near the begining or end of a set). It's a litle minimal and a little electro and just when you think it might put you to sleep, it slaps you upside the head and wakes you up. Add this to your mix and it will, as Chef Emeril would say, " Kick it up a notch!".

My buddy Oli was looking for this tune and so I dug around and found it in my library. I had not listened to it since last December and I forgot how good it is. As usual , it's got cut up vocals and a great bassline(shocker!).
Hi Jack are known for making bass heavy house and were feature on Erol Alkans January Mixmag cover cd.
Herve has been cranking out great remixes as of late and if you like this then you will dig his sound. He has several alias at the moment. He is known as... COUNT OF MONTE CRISTAL, YOUNG LOVERS and TOMORROW PEOPLE. He also has a "normal" guitar pop/rock band that will be releasing stuff shortly.

The Dub Pistols are back with a cover of Blondie's 'Rapture', their first single for Rob da Banks' Sunday Best label. This is an alright cover on it's own but Richard Dinsdale sure jacks the remix up and gives me what I want...a wicked bassline and chopped up vocals, two things you know I love. Mr. Dinsdale has been doing some great work as of late and I glad I was introduced to his sound by my bud over at I like these tunes. This track is filthy and would go down a treat in any late night set.

I LOVE THAT BASSLINE!!! (sorry, but I had to put that out there right off the bat)
Damn...they've done it again...The two lovely lads from the UK that make up the Pirate Soundsytem (Don & Josh) have made another wonderful glitchtastic tune by totally tweaking (as they are want to do) ' Two Culture Clash feat Ms Thing - Love Guide' and giving it their usual unique sound. Did I mention I LOVE that bassline?
I highly recommend you go get.... 'Two Culture Clash feat Ms Thing - Love Guide vs Pirate Soundsystem - Oh Shit (Demo) '. Grab it from their blog here! They also have some wicked ringtones on their blog as well..."When the crowd say bo , seleeeecta, 3..2..1!". Been using that one for a while now. Respect!

R-Tem is a Russian DJ who has been making tunes for about 10 years. R-Tem plays funky house/nu-breaks and is the founder of Snoochi Boochi Records. His tracks have been supported by some of the best dj's from around the world, like: Tiesto, Armand Van Helden, Moose, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Andy Moor, Flash Bros, Armin Van Buuren, Deepdish, & Anthony Pappa. Paul van Dyk started his Loveparade 2006 set with R-Tem's 'MSFG'.
Seratonine is also a Russian DJ and he seems to like doing Electro/Tech House remixes, as most of his remixes are in those styles. I have not heard a lot of his work but he has done a great job with this remix. He likes his bass real dirty (and so do I) as well as having some nice synth stabs and pulsating kicks to keep you groovin'. He lets the vocal stay mainly intact but he does plays around with it in spots to spice up the mix. This is a great track that could be dropped in a mix at almost any time. Dig it.

What are you lookin' at?
I am a whore when it come to Infusion. I just wanted to get that out of the way first... I love, LOVE the sound they have and if that wasn't enough, they put on phenomenal live shows (Which I have seen many times) . 'Six Feet Above Yesterday' took the sounds they had created in 'Phrases and Numbers' and took them to a highly refined new level. They are currently finishing up their new album, which should be out later this year and they will then begin to touring again to support it (They toured for 2 years in support of 'Six Feet Above Yesterday'!!) .
Here another one of my favortie remixers , Switch, takes an already sweet tune and gives it his twist to make another great thumper for the dancefloor. The bleeps, weird sounds and cut up vocals are all here, as is to be expected from Switch. I know this is an older tune but as Switch is really coming into his own these days I thought it would be good to showcase a tune he did on his rise to global electro/house domintation.

One of my all time favorite duos has yet another solid club growler for us and Sinden and Switch have taken an already wicked track and taken it one step further...Loads of cut up vocals, weird sounds, thumping tribal-ish beats and plenty of bass to get your booty movin'.

This is really the style of music I am into now (at least for DJ'ing) and with some of the stuff producers like Surkin, sebastiAn, Sinden, Herve and Switch are making, I don't see that changing anytime soon.
My friend Churchill over at I like these Tunes posted this last week (kinda an exclusive for my bud). Go check out his blog...it's kinda cool.

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS ANNOUNCE FUTHER DETAILS OF NEW ALBUM WE ARE THE NIGHT
Following their fourth consecutive UK number 1 album, the double GRAMMY® Award winning Push The Button, The Chemical Brothers return with their sixth long player, set for release on June 19th 2007. We Are The Night is The Chemical Brothers finest record yet, twelve tracks of psychedelic warehouse party acid music, euphorically melodic and as uncompromising as their retina scorching live shows.
Recorded undercover of darkness in a bomb proof bunker in South London, We Are The Night is a route map through modern psychedelia; a derailed rollercoaster that barrels the listener onto a journey that moves seamlessly from frenetic percussion workout that threatens to splash out of the speakers, to metronomic pulses that sound like the kind of music that gets played out at some kind of future disco populated entirely by robots; from the wheezing groans of modular synthesizers that sound like they’ve been left out in the rain to die, to hallucinogenic public service announcements about salt water fish. All the while, disembodied robo-voices boom out mind control commandments as guest vocals weave in and out of tracks like previously undiscovered instruments…
Effortlessly evoking the dancefloors of Manchester and Minneapolis in the early '80s and London of 2007, We Are The Night is The Chemical Brothers at their very best. Infectious from the ominous opening through to the gorgeous dying embers, the record features some of their most mind-blowing music to date, a massive step up for the duo in terms of both production and sound. The album builds on the band's immense back catalogue and reaffirms them as true pioneers of electronic music, a band who are consistently hugely successful both critically and commercially.
We Are The Night follows on from 2005’s Push The Button, which featured the huge single “Galvanize”. As is often the way with Chemical Brothers records, it achieved a life of its own, soundtracking everything from South American raves to the London's Notting Hill Carnival and all points in between. The duo recently sneaked out an album preview (the anonymously released ultra limited “Electronic Battle Weapon” 8 & 9). Much of the record has been tested out on dancefloors across the world during the past twelve months.
We Are The Night - the soundtrack to the summer just arrived...

MSTRKFT played loads of great tunes like...
(From what I remember...Not in order)
Kavinsky - Testarossa Overdrive (SebastiAn Remix)
Toscadisco - Nobody likes the records that I play
Basement Jaxx - Take me back to your house (speaker Junk mix)
MSTRKRFT - Paris
MSTRKRFT - Street Justice (MSTRKRFT 07 Remix)
Para One-Dudun Dun (MSTRKRFT mix)
MSTRKRFT - Easy love
Robbie Willams - Lovelight (soulwax mix)
Can You Feel Magik ? - Dunproofin' !?!?!?!?!
I freaked out when I heard Dun's tune and I had to do a double take. When I taked to them (briefly) later their was a brief mention of them getting it given to them on a disc at a gig recently. The crowd sure dug it when it was played. Neato!
They also talked about a few new remixes and working on doing some new singles. I did get to say "Hi" to Digweed too but he was tired or something and didn't say much...we was also nice enought to spend 20 minutes signing stuff for people...where as mstrkrft only chilled for a few when they were done with their set.
Here are some pics... (click them to make them bigger)
All in all..between Friday night and the Bachelor party I went to on Saturday night....I had a great Birthday weekend!
