mxmtoon

mxmtoon (pronounced em-ex-em-toon) is the moniker of 18-year-old Maia, an Oakland-based singer, songwriter, and ukulele player. Don't let the age fool you. Like other artists I've covered in the past, there is more here than meets the eye. This singer/songwriter has insights and realizations well beyond her years. As I would say to my friends, I think she's seen some shit.

Haunting melodies and hushed, passionate, sad yet hopeful vocals really cut you straight to the core. When she sings, you listen. You can't help it.

That's what music is supposed to do...Captivate and enrich. mxmtoon does that is spades.
